MacWorld New York 2000:
The Movies

These four short QuickTime clips were created using a Nikon CoolPix 990 still digital camera. In addition to being a top-rated still camera, it also has a limited ability to take video: the video is limited to no more than 40 seconds, and does not include sound.

The hit of MacWorld New York 2000 was Apple's new Power Mac Cube. This clip shows the outer shell, complete with a look at the bottom (where all the ports are located). 22 seconds, 3.3 megabytes. Apple scattered Cubes throughout MacWorld, and wherever they were, the questions were the same: what is on the inside? Apple had anticipated that, and created a kiosk in its pavilion featuring a rotating Cube without the outer shell. 35 seconds, 3.1 megabytes. Double-click on the image. If you have never been to MacWorld, you have probably wondered what it is like. This clip, taken at the end of the last day (after the crowds had died down), shows the major activity: large numbers of people wandering back and forth, trying to find goodies. This is just a small portion of the entire exhibit area. 12 seconds, 1.7 mebabytes. Double-click on the image. MacWorld crowd

On the opening day of MacWorld Conference (a day before the exhibits opened), New York had a tragedy: part of a building fell off, seriously injuring an out of town visitor. This has happened repeatedly this year, and the city responded in force. The incident happened on Seventh Avenue, across the street from Hotel Pennsylvania and diagonally across from Madison Square Garden. This busy street was blocked most of the week. 40 seconds, 5.9 megabytes. Double-click on the image.
