Subject: Admin: Mail List instructions, getting help and What's availabl Sent: 12/15 4:25 Received: 12/15 18:40 From: Chuq von Rospach, chuq@solutions.apple.com To: Subscribers to, server-users@solutions.apple.com README.Autopost Version 1.0 Last update December 1, 1995 This file describes the documentation available for using the mailing list, World Wide Web, FTP and other services available on the machine solutions.apple.com. It is posted to our mailing lists twice a month, on the first and 15th. All services available on this server are documented in the file you get when you send a empty e-mail to It is also available via FTP from . This file should be your starting point when you're looking for information about services available on this system. For each mailing list, there is a document that describes how to subscribe and unsubscribe to it, what the list is about, FTP and WWW archive locations, and contact information for the List Moms. You can get a copy of that document by sending an empty e-mail to the address <{list-address}-request@solutions.apple.com>. As an example, if you are a member of apple-internet-users, the address to e-mail to would be . If you aren't sure what the exact address for your list is, it is documented in the document mentioned in the previous paragraph. We have some rules that we request all users of our mailing lists to abide by. If you subscribe to one of our lists, we ask you to please send e-mail to and read this document. It also includes a number of hints that we've found helpful to people trying to make their messages more readable. All of the mailing lists are run via the Listproc mailing list server. You can get a tutorial on using the Listproc by sending e-mail to . The exact commands needed for each list is in that list's information file, which you can get by e-mailing to the appropriate address listed in the document. And, of course, if all else fails or if none of the documents answer your question, send e-mail to your List Mom, or to and we'll help you get your problem resolved. Note: server-users is a special list we use to send out admin mail to multiple lists at once. This list doesn't really exist. You don't subscribe or unsubscribe from it. If you're on solutions.apple.com, you will receive occasional mail from that list from us when we need to send messages to multiple lists without inundating people with multiple copies of the mail, and to keep messages like this one out of the archives. You can not unsubscribe from server-users. Anyone subscribed to any mailing list on solutions.apple.com will receive these messages when the admins feel it is necessary. Please don't ask to unsubscribe from the admin list -- we can't even if we wanted to -- and we're sending the mail to this list because we THINK you should read it. End of file
