What was once an insoluble problem turns out to have a simple solution: not only must you place the modem on top of the Mac and the CD-ROM on top of the modem, but you must also remove the cardboard cover from the CD-ROM! Little technical tricks like this are what user groups are all about, and the raison d'être for Washington Apple Pi.
