The
much-loved Tuesday Night Clinic has returned, but under a new name, on a new
night, and in a new location. The new name is the MacRecycleClinic, and the
time is every Monday night, rain or shine, from 7 to 9 p.m. The new location is
the Marvin Memorial United Methodist Church, 33 University Boulevard East,
Silver Spring, Maryland, across from Montgomery Blair High School.
As far as
the folks involved, nothing has changed there. The two regular ringleaders, Lorin
Evans and Jim Ritz, are still heading up the venture, ably assisted by a group
of volunteers who are all ready, willing and able to provide help with your
computer problems.
MacRecycleClinic
first opened for business on Monday, Sept. 13, and it will continue to meet at
7 p.m. into perpetuity. The clinicians invite you to bring them your Mac
equipment problems for diagnosis and repair, even if other repair shops have
thrown up their hands in defeat. While the doors will be open on a walk-in
basis, it would be wise to contact one of the volunteers ahead of time via
email or phone to discuss your particular problem and their ability to help
with it. See the contact information below.

Note: The
MacRecycleClinic is an independent nonprofit organization that is not
affiliated with the Washington Apple Pi. This operation has it own policies
regarding repairs, remuneration, donations, etc.; however, the management of
the Pi endorses and supports this venture, which is being run by Pi members.
Reclamation Program
In
addition to the Monday Clinic, MacRecycleClinic accepts donations of computers
and computer equipment for distribution to people in need: A potential new home
for your old or outdated Mac and computer peripherals. As a nonprofit, the
clinic can issue tax donation letters for equipment you donate.
Alternative Help
Because
the Monday evening hours of the MacRecycleClinic may not be convenient for everyone,
the Pi’s Clubhouse Saturdays will continue at least twice a month. This
Pi-sponsored event affords an alternative opportunity to address your equipment
problems or software issues.
