The
Gandhi Brigade, by Richard Jaeggi
Hello, I am a new Pi member and I direct a youth media, non-profit in Silver
Spring Maryland. The group consists of young people, mostly minority and immigrant youths, who create
media about social justice issues; hence our name. You can learn more about us on the below YouTube video.

We are an all Mac shop; poor in resources, but
wealthy in spirit.
The Opportunity: We would like to invite any Pi member who might be interested to work with our dedicated,
creative and fun group of young people. They are in need of mentors in the
areas of video, photography, and graphic design. Our most immediate
need is help in graphic design and before too long, we would like to begin working with digital music
production.
Our Needs: Beyond the above, we have
organizational needs with the following volunteer opportunities.
- We
need help moving from a simple peer to peer network to a Snow Leopard Server network. We have a small grant for this and need help in both
planning and implementation.
- We
need help with managing our media assets which includes video, photography, and
graphics.
- We
need a volunteer technology consultant who would work with our youth
technology manager (6 hours a month.)
- We
need help with hardware repair and maintenance. Presently there are two PowerMac G5s with
dead power supplies that need to be repaired.
- We
need help with hardware acquisition, both donations of used equipment and discounts on new purchases.
To
respond or volunteer, use one of the below options.
