Significance
WordPerfect for Apple II + IIGS was a serious competitor to AppleWorks's word processor. The Mac version (1988+) competed with Microsoft Word and MacWrite. WordPerfect Corporation was bought by Novell (1994) then sold to Corel (1996); the Mac version was discontinued in the late 1990s.
