WAP Hotline

Phone-based volunteer help for Pi members. The idea originated in Hersch Pilloff's "Another Opinion" (February 1980, 1980-02 — V02 N02) on tapping member expertise.

Boris Levine operationalized it in 1981 via a questionnaire distributed at the July 1981 meeting producing a volunteer roster. The Hotline page debuted in the September 1981 issue and became a regular fixture. Volunteers listed area of expertise and phone (with "no calls after 10:00 pm" common restriction).
