The Rack! The Rack!

These Apple IIGS computers act as modem servers for the Washington Apple Pi bulletin board complex, the TCS. When a member calls in, a modem, paired up with an Apple IIGS, answers the call, and custom-written software (written in a combination of AppleSoft BASIC and machine language) handles everything from login and password verification to uploading and downloading to electronic mail to the posting of messages on the hundreds of available Pi bulletin boards.
