Pi President for two terms — 1981–1985 (per 1989-01 — V11 N01 anniversary roster; elected at the 1981-06 — V03 N06 meeting where Wozniak attended) and again August 1989 – July 1990 after the Pi Governance Crisis 1989 removed Robert C. Platt.
Statistician by profession. Long-running SoftViews review column and Excelling on Your Mac tutorial series throughout the late 1980s. Co-reviewed JMP (SAS statistics package) in 1990-01 — V12 N01 with Al Best. Mac Q&A co-author with Martin Milrod.
During his second term, restored stability after the governance crisis; was succeeded by Eric Rall in 1990-08 — V12 N08 after summer elections (the bylaws revision also passed).
