VisiCalc
The first electronic spreadsheet — written by Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston, published by Personal Software. First released for the Apple II in 1979; the application that made the Apple II a serious business machine. Walt Francis published a Pi-member commentary on VisiCalc in December 1980, marking its entry into Pi's regular technical coverage.
Visicalc III (for the Apple III) was announced as part of the Apple III launch in May 1980.
