Apple II RAM Expansion
The wave of products that pushed the Apple II past its native 64K addressing limit. Several Pi articles tracked the field in 1981:
- Legend Industries 64KC — 64K bank-switched RAM in one slot, $349 (October 1981 ad)
- McLaren LCG — companion Lower Case Generator, $49.95
- Fred Schulz's "Memory Expansion Beyond 64K" (December 1981) — covering products that took the Apple past 64K (one to a megabyte was previewed in September)
- Saturn Systems RAM cards (referenced in articles)
Bank-switching foreshadowed the multi-bank RAM products that would dominate Apple II expansion 1982 onward.
