Note: Mac OS users should refer to similar instructions for NiftyTelnet.
Download the latest version of PuTTY for Windows from the PuTTY web site. There is no installer to run, no archive to decompress. Just an application named putty.exe which you can launch directly. At less than 1/4 megabyte, PuTTY will easily fit on a floppy disk.
Note that in addition to the telnet protocol, PuTTY can also communicate using security protocols needed mostly by Unix system administrators. As such, many of the program's settings are inapplicable to the task at hand. If you will only be using PuTTY to access the TCS, you might prefer using the slimmer, focused "lite" version called PuTTYtel: puttytel.exe.
Launch the application. Then as shown below, enter "tcs.wap.org" into the Host Name and Saved Sessions fields, and click Save.
Select "tcs.wap.org" from the list of Saved Sessions and click Load, then click Open. You will connect and be prompted for your TCS password.
