Overview
MAJOR PI GOVERNANCE EVENT. The June 14, 1989 Board of Directors Meeting (page 12) voted to remove Robert C. Platt as President, with subsequent steps:
"Removal of Robert Platt as President; Expulsion of Robert Platt from WAP. ... A resolution asking Bob to voluntarily resign as president and withdraw from the election — passed; Bob did not resign or withdraw. A vote on removing Bob Platt as president, based on a finding that it was necessary for the good of the corporation — passed: 10 Yes; 2 No; 3 Abstained (BOD only). All members: 24 Yes; 3 No; 7 Abstain. The question of expulsion was discussed but the motion was withdrawn."
Tom Warrick returns as President (Officers list page 2). Dale Smith elected permanent Secretary. Dick Byrd appointed Sergeant-at-Arms. Nancy Seferian becomes Journal Managing Editor, having redesigned the entire Journal from the ground up on emergency notice — see her editorial "The New Look" on page 9:
"Some of the changes in the way it looks are intentional and exploratory in nature... In significant part, however, the new look stems from the fact that we had to design it from the ground up — every page had to be designed anew, with no assistance from earlier editions, or from the previous Managing Editor. And we had to do it on very short notice."
Issue is only 71 pages (down from 90+) reflecting the rushed turnaround.

Highlights
Board removes Platt — June 14, 1989
Robert C. Platt removed as President for reasons not stated in the minutes (and which I will not speculate on). The vote was 10-2-3 on the Board and 24-3-7 among all members present. A motion to expel Platt from WAP was discussed but withdrawn.
Nancy Seferian becomes Managing Editor
Emergency redesign: Nancy Seferian (longtime AVSIG/AV-SIG leader) had to design every page from scratch with no help from the previous Managing Editor (Tom Piwowar who had been doing Journal Business since Feb 1989).
"The New Look" editorial
Seferian (or her partner editor) addresses the new design directly on page 9 — quotes Franz Fanon: "What doesn't kill me, makes me stronger."
Apple Announces New Micro Line — Ken Chapman
The Apple Macintosh Portable (introduced Sept 20, 1989) — pre-launch coverage. Apple's first laptop attempt.
A History of /// EZ Pieces — David Ottalini
Robert Lissner's /// EZ Pieces (Apple /// version of what became AppleWorks) historical retrospective — a fitting tribute as Apple // dominates.
