Highlights

★ Bob Jarecke President — Correction to Pi-Presidency Timeline

Jarecke is President in early 2007 — not 2009 as I had documented from 2009-01 — V31 N01. Jarecke must have been elected at the May 2006 BOD election (results published 2006-07 — V28 N04). John Barnes served 2 years (2004-2006), then Jarecke from May 2006. Jarecke is still President in 2009, so his tenure is at least 3 years (May 2006 – mid-2009). Major Pi-history correction.

Luther Jackson Middle School New Venue

Pi General Meetings move to Luther Jackson Middle School, 3030 Gallows Road, Falls Church VA. Replaces Microsoft Innovation Center (Reston VA). Probably driven by accessibility, parking, room size, or MS partnership end.

★ Pi Photo Contest Launches

FIRST PI PHOTO CONTEST — official 2007 launch. 2 years before 2009-07 — V31 N04 Supplement, which is a Photo Contest IV / continuation. Contest: Mar 1 - Apr 1; judging Apr 15 - May 15; awards at May General Meeting.

Encrypting Mac Laptops — Lawrence I. Charters

Government laptop-encryption directive era — VA (Veterans Affairs) laptop theft of 26.5M records in May 2006 triggered federal encryption mandates. Charters covers Mac side.

MacBook Pro Life — Kevin W. Parker

First-year MacBook Pro narrative — first Intel laptop, launched Jan 10, 2006.

Pi Survey #1 + #2

Multi-part Pi membership survey — strategic-planning ramp begins (will feed into 2009 Strategic Plan).
