Pi Losses 1993

Two major Pi figures died in 1993:

Bernard Urban (1928?–1993) — Pi founder, longtime editor (1979-1988), multi-term officer. Died Saturday May 28, 1993 after a long illness. Tribute issue: 1993-07 — V15 N07 (held back to incorporate the tribute) — included a reprint of his Feb 2, 1979 founding letter. Lorin Evans's tribute concluded: "From before the first Journal and till after his last, he was more than the Pi's editor. He was our friend. Peace, Bernie."

Martin Milrod (Marty Milrod) — died 1993 — Long-running Mac Disketeria co-coordinator with David Weikert, Mac Q&A co-author with David Morganstein, Tutorials Coordinator. Wrote "Killing Those Viruses!" (1989-02 — V11 N02) and many reviews. Tribute by Leonard Nacht in 1993-09 — V15 N09 "In Fond Memory of Marty Milrod".

Pi members Gena Urban (Bernie's widow) wrote "Special Thanks" in 1993-09 — V15 N09 thanking the membership for support.

These two deaths reshaped Pi's leadership and reminded the community of its history.
