Pi NOVAPPLE Merger

A two-year attempt to merge Pi with NOVAPPLE (and potentially other DC/MD/VA Apple clubs) into one cohesive organization.

1979 backdrop: Urban's September 1979 editorial first proposed it. NOVAPPLE's "trial marriage" with Pi (May 1979) included combined newsletter and merged mailing lists.

1980 progress and stall: - Pi/NOVAPPLE relations remained close but separate through 1980 - August 1980 Exec Board began formal Chapter group exploration (Pi as parent, NOVAPPLE as Chapter with paid dues) - September 1980 Exec Board: representatives of multiple DC-area clubs met with Pi Board - October 1980: extensive discussion at Exec Board - November 1980 editorial (Urban): "I have come to the conclusion that this has been and continues to be too difficult to accomplish" — merger formally abandoned - Going forward: Pi treats other orgs/individuals as non-members for services; remains open to co-sponsorship and reciprocal exchanges
