Founding of Washington Apple Pi
Summary
The Washington Apple Pi was founded at a February 2, 1979 meeting at Computers Etc in Silver Spring, MD, with Bernard Urban serving as temporary moderator. Initial volunteers and members included Sandy Greenfarb, Bill Barker, Andy Barker, Jim Kelly, Rick Hodder, Dick Hodder, Chris Hodder, Bernard Urban, and Genevie Urban. The group adopted a monthly meeting cadence (last Saturday) and chose George Washington University as its venue starting March 1979.
The group was incorporated organizationally via the Constitution and By-Laws drafted by John Moon (adapted from the Apple Puget Sound Program Library Exchange / Call-A.P.P.L.E. version), adopted at the March 31, 1979 meeting. First formal elections were held May 26, 1979, with John Moon elected as second President.
