Highlights

★★★ Phil Shapiro debuts

Shapiro's first Pi byline is a philosophical-cognitive piece on human memory vs computer memory. He becomes a central Pi voice through the 1990s — Internet/community advocate, HyperCard educator, schools-online activist.

Tom Warrick's System 4.1 warning

The President himself uses the Journal to warn Pi members not to upgrade to a buggy Apple system release. This was unusual presidential plain-speaking.

PlusWorks brings AppleWorks to the Apple ][+

The original Apple ][+ (1979) couldn't run AppleWorks because of memory and processor constraints. PlusWorks was a clever workaround — extending AppleWorks's life back to the original Apple II.
